About

Teach For America works in partnership with urban and rural communities in 53 regions across the country to expand educational opportunity for children. Founded in 1990, Teach For America recruits and develops a diverse corps of outstanding leaders to make an initial two-year commitment to teach in high-need schools and become lifelong leaders in the effort to end educational inequity. Today Teach For America is a force of 56,000 alumni and corps members committed to profound systemic change.

Founded in 2011 with a corps of 30, Teach For America South Carolina is fast approaching 10 years of impact in the state.

Today, nearly 100 corps members reach over 6,000 students across the Pee Dee, Lowcountry, Midlands and Upstate regions. Joined by a growing force of over 350 alumni, our network includes multiple school, policy, and non-profit leaders affecting change every day.

The scale of our impact is elevated by the prioritization and cultivation of deep partnerships in the communities we serve. Moved by the passion and potential of this place, we are committed to ending educational inequities for all South Carolina students.
